Project Overview

Joe & The Juice is a global chain of upscale juice bars and coffee shops. We designed the mobile experience for iOS and Android to help streamline the ordering process for over 300 stores.

The new digital commerce and customer engagement platform features a vibrant visual identity with unique brand elements infused throughout the app.

Our team iterated on the app over a multi-year partnership to incorporate features supporting the loyalty program, pickup, delivery, and a seamless purchase flow.

With time to expand on the app, we discovered ways to refine the presentation of the fresh products.

The work across our teams also helped Joe & The Juice sustain during the global pandemic by improving key flows and creating contactless solutions for order pickups.

Waiting Made Entertaining

While waiting for pickup or delivery, customers are presented with animations that show the current stage of their order.

Each illustration leverages a pleasant color palette and elevates what would typically be a boring experience.

To make Joe's extensive loyalty program more engaging, we created a vibrant 3D world that brings rewards to life. Each feature received special treatment:

Points tracking features playful 3D juice drops that accumulate and splash

Achievement badges are illustrated as rotating 3D medals with custom brand patterns

Reward tiers showcase animated 3D juice cups that fill up as customers progress

Special offers appear as floating 3D gift boxes with particle effects

Our achievement system features carefully crafted 3D icons:

First Purchase: A gleaming 3D golden cup with rising steam particles

Juice Master: Animated 3D fruits orbiting around a championship trophy

Coffee Connoisseur: A detailed 3D coffee bean wreath with metallic finish

Loyal Customer: Spinning 3D crown with embedded jewels representing visit milestones

Green Champion: 3D recycling symbol made from intertwined leaves and vines

These 3D elements create a cohesive visual system that connects Joe's brand imagery with the points-based rewards program, making every interaction more delightful and memorable.

Magazine Style

The app has an unconventional magazine style while maintaining usability and allowing users to navigate without friction.

Timeline

From February 2021 to Present, Synergy Labs collaborated with Joe & The Juice to revamp their mobile app. The project focused on UI/UX design and frontend development, working alongside their internal team to modernize the app and enhance functionality. As an extension of their design team, we ensured a seamless user experience, integrated new features, and continuously optimized performance.
